Jonathan said to his young armor-bearer, “Come, let’s go over to the outpost of those uncircumcised men. Perhaps the Lord will act in our behalf. Nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few.”
(1 Samuel 14:6, NIV)
I won’t hold you long today. This very well may be my shortest article to date. Sometimes it just doesn’t take a lot of words to make a point. And sometimes it does. Likewise, with God sometimes He will use a lot, and sometimes He may use a little… but no matter what God uses, nothing can hinder His will.
Jonathan understood this all too well when he decided to wage war against the Philistines. He didn’t have an army with him. All Jonathan had was one companion, his armor-bearer. But when Jonathan went up to fight, Jonathan conquered.
He and his armor-bearer killed 20 men. When the rest of the Israelites heard of Jonathan’s boldness, they followed suit. The Israelites won the battle… and it all started because one man believed if God was by his side, he was enough.
Just like David only had one rock. But it was enough. Just like Samson only had one jawbone. But it was enough. Just like Jesus Christ was only one man. But He was enough.
God told you it only takes one mustard seed to move mountains. It is enough. God told you He would be with you until the ends of the earth. He is enough. God told you that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are enough.
All you need to do is to believe that you’re enough.
With God leading you, you’re enough.
You are enough.
Your victory is on the other side of believing that you are enough. Start where you are. When Jonathan took the first step, the rest of the army followed suit. When you take your first step, God will send an army of angels to follow suit (Psalms 91:11).
So, go.
You may have to fight. But you are enough. You start it. God will finish it. Because nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few.
